About the Event
This two-hour tour in the Israel Museum explores the holiday-and-festivity-rich time of year - which sees many expressions of redemption and independence - from the Exodus to the battles of Modern Israel: Memorial Day, Independence Day and Yom Yerushalayim, and finally - Bikkurim day. It is the time of the failure of the Bar Kokhba revolt, but also of Rabbi Akiva’s students. The story of this time seems curiously involved with King David as well, as we read the story of Ruth which takes place in the fields of barley, a king who comes from Bethlehem - “House of Bread”, in a story about famine.
Join me in the Israel Museum as we explore these fascinating connections between agriculture, history, national development and the Jewish holidays.
